Excitement is growing with the imminent return of a new County Cricket season in the United Kingdom.
GHN recently caught up with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club Fast-Bowler Nathan Buck to discuss his hopes and prospects for the new season with his team.
Nathan also speaks about how he has managed to stay physically and mentally focused during a world pandemic.
GHN: What season number is this for you as a professional sportsman?
NB: "This will be season number 12, it’s been an incredibly good ride so far."
GHN: Are you doing anything different for this preseason preparation in comparison to 5 years ago?
NB: "This year we have unfortunately have no preseason tour abroad, so it means more indoor bowling, which if im honest, isn’t good on the body! During these recent changing times, I guess not much has changed in terms of being 'Bowling Fit'. We now wear GPS vests to track workloads of bowling as apposed to guessing back in the day."
GHN: How have you managed to keep yourself physically and mentally fit during these uncertain/difficult times?
NB: "I've done plenty of cycling and, walking. I also been using 'My Home Gym' in my garage, which has been a saviour!"
GHN: What has been you best sporting memory to date? And do you have any tips for any young aspiring sports people hoping to play sport a career.
NB: "Playing for England Lions on tour to West Indies/Sri Lanka/Bangladesh was an amazing experience and an achievement i'm proud of. I would love to have this opportunity again."
"My advice would be. Don’t get caught up on goals, enjoy what you do and you’ll be just as successful."
GHN: What are you hopes for the 2021 season?
NB: "To win some silverware for the mighty 'Steelbacks' and to personally have a strong season!"
